Dr. Brian Mitchell, head of research at the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and Nick Weldon, editor and researcher at the Historic New Orleans Collection, visited the IB Diploma Juniors to talk about their book Monumental. The book tells the story of Dr. Mitchell's ancestor Oscar Dunn and his radical fight for justice as Louisiana's first Black Lieutenant Governor. Students learned how they can dig into the historical record themselves to revive and tell the forgotten stories of New Orleans.
